What we do

CPS – AVIP collaborate and exchanges knowledge with various partners around the world in steering the global community to the Culture of  Peace. We welcome invitations to share our experiences in Peace and Security related issues. Our partners are governments, research institutes, international NGOs, Civil Society Organisations and regional organisations. Our focus is on aspects of support and assistance on the following areas:

Support and Assistance to Governments:

  • Initiate projects and encourage initiatives in fostering the culture of peace through Peace education and Armed Violence Preventions Schemes.
  • Research, design and deliver trainings to build capacity of officials on Armed Violence Prevention, UN Small Arms Process, Security Sector Reform, National Guns Law, Weapons collection and destruction and Disarmament.
  • Design and deliver trainings on the establishment and effective functioning of national SALW commissions.

Support and Assistance to Sub-regional Organisations:

  • Initiating projects and activities related to South-South Cooperation
  • Promote the effective participation of civil society at relevant meetings at all levels, national, sub-regional and international.
  • Develop programmes and strategies to sensitize the general public about the dangers and eminent risks of arms.

Support and Assistance to Civil Society Organisations:

  • Raising awareness of civil society organisations on how to tackle issues related to armed violence against women and children and masculinity.
  • Initiate capacity building projects on better understanding and interpretations of various legal instruments; Conventions, Protocols and Treaties
  • Promote the effective participation of civil society at relevant meetings at all levels, national, sub-regional and international.
